The agricultural industry is very dependent upon good insulation particularly within root crop stores and livestock buildings. History tells us that spray-applied foam is arguably one of the favourites! Not only does it offer a very good U-value resulting in the need for less thickness, it also has the added advantage of being adhered directly to roof and wall cladding - thus eliminating voids for rodents to nest and breed.
A further advantage to the system is its ability to completely seal buildings, which becomes important for gassing and fogging. It also helps ventilation systems to operate to their full potential. This also appears to be one of the main reasons that the system is favoured within livestock buildings - particularly pigs and poultry - as it allows the farmer to control the ventilation and temperature systems far more effectively coupled with a dramatic reduction in heating and feed costs.
Externally the systems are favourite for the insulation of feed bins to eliminate the internal condensation and for insulation of water, fuel and chemical tanks to protect from frost. The external applications are over-coated with weather-proofing systems often manufactured by the same supplier as the foam chemical. These coatings are available in a wide range of colours but particularly suitable for the rural environment.
Further products available to the agricultural industry are the injection systems. There are primarily two systems available, the first being a standard insulation system for use in pre-formed cavities in both crop stores and livestock buildings, eliminating either mechanical and stock damage to the lower wall areas. The second is a cavity wall tie system which not only offers a good degree of insulation but is also designed to bond the inner and outer walls together to eliminate wall tie fatigue and failure.
Taking everything into consideration the polyurethane insulation systems offer longterm value for money enabling the farmer to recoup his initial outlay very quickly with the saving in heating and feed costs.
We at prospray believe that insulation shouldnt cost the earth and so we have arranged easy and quick methods of payment.
